HIDDEL RFC to CEN/TC251
(DELIVERABLE 2.1)

A document describing HIDDEL metadata elements was sent to workgroup II (Terminology and knowledge bases) of CEN/TC 251 (the technical committee 251 of the European Com-mittee for Standardization). Workgroup II aims at the semantic organisation of information so as to make practical use of it in the domains of healthcare informatics. The actual work items focus on interrelationships of concepts and on structures for concepts systems.

The contents of this document were discussed first at a meeting on 14 and 15 November 2002 Paris in the context of the Metaknow work item which is the responsibility of Anders Thurin, our liaison to the work group. The Metaknow work item addresses metadata in health infor-matics, more precisely, metadata as clinical knowledge resources.

With this document, HIDDEL was fed in the standardization process of CEN.
